MARYBETH MAES - MUSIC MOVEMENT AND MORE

PRE-K TO FIRST GRADE PROGRAM

- I begin by teaching the children how to warm up their voices and warm up their bodies. We warm up our voices together, then sing an opening song.

 - We then stretch our muscles and I teach them an original song, "Stretch Up", which gets them moving, dancing, and allows them to be silly.

 - We talk about breakfast, what the children like to eat and how important breakfast is along with basic healthy eating. I then perform another original song, "What's In Your Tummy", teaching them the chorus.

 - We also sit on the floor for an old folk song called "Pick It Up" in which we drop body parts in the floor and then reconnect them.  I ask the children where the body parts belong.  We learn to keep a beat as well.

 - I perform old favorites such as Old MacDonald, You Are My Sunshine, and many more. I pick 5 children to act like monkeys and we sing "Five Little Monkeys".

 - I have an original song called "The Name Song" in which I sing children's names,  spelling out the names, giving them a moment in the spotlight.

 - We end with a "Goodbye" song that I teach to them. We sing this a few times, so they can learn the movements that go with the song.

My goal is to keep the children active, thinking and learning all while having a great time!
